1- Chicago Blackhawks
Adding Antoine Vermette after the loss of Patrick Kane for 12 weeks and adding veteran defenseman Kimmo Timonen is reinforcing a very solid offensive and defensive squads. These questions remain, is Corey Crawford the goalie to raise that trophy? Is the loss of Kane to big for them in the long run?
2- New York Rangers
With the addition of Keith Yandle on this, already very solid, defensive team, the New York Rangers are back to where they left last year. Back on track with a 7-1-2 record and shy 3 points from the 1st spot in the East, the Rangers are now adding a very good offensive element to their unstable D powerplay.
3- Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks did fly a lot of on the deadline this year. Acquiring James Wisniewski, Simon Despres, Korbinian Holzer, Jiri Sekac and Tomas Fleischmann, this team were already on top and will stick to it.
4- Detroit Red Wings
Marek Zidlicky and Erik Cole are coming to a very solid team. Coach Mike Babcock has been very good with veterans like these two before and he will show, why, again.`
5- Montreal Canadiens
With lack of 4th-5th D, Canadiens added Jeff Petry from Edmonton to fill this spot. Also adding Torey Mitchell (from Montreal) and Brian Flynn were two good ways to add some depth.
